THE “KHALCHITSKY KITCHEN” PROJECT
- Function: Store
- Location: Kharkiv, Ukraine
- Area: 250 m²
- Status: Sketch project, 2019.
- Team: Serhiy Lemekhov, Mykyta Honcharenko
- Style: Modern
- Type of construction: Reconstruction
The first work on this object was started back in 2008.
This is a basement space that used to house a housing maintenance office, and from 2006 to 2007, incidentally, it was the design team of the company where Sergey Lemekhov was working at the time.
Later, reconstruction work on the entrance began, and in 2019, the client approached us again to develop a conceptual design that involved different solutions.
The idea adopted as a basis was to transform the basement level into the first floor by opening it up and excavating soil, effectively lowering the terrain and creating a landscaped area at the new elevation.
In this key, we have completed the task. This solution requires the construction of reinforced concrete retaining walls and an ergonomic section with stairs, including an accessibility element - a ramp. This allowed for the expansion of window openings, thus widening the display area and improving natural light inside, which is very important for a store. It also provided an opportunity to create a glass vestibule at the same level as the store's interior and a relaxation area or even a meeting space with benches.
This is how the solution was born, which did not spoil but complemented and beautified the appearance of the residential building and the street. In addition to the obvious advantages in appearance and commercial appeal of the premises, there is also a tangible psychological effect from being in a room with floor-to-ceiling windows instead of in a basement.
